Travel in Scotland: Edinburgh Scotland Travel
pétantes It is eight o'clock when we arrive in downtown Edinburgh, the symbolic capital of Scotland since 1437. It is home to monuments of historical, mythological and symbolic. Quite a story as they say ... So in light night we had a first view of Edinburgh. After depositing our business in the charming little hostel (absolutely recommended in view of its price), the gateway to a Scottish pub and late evening in a busy nightclub, the night was short and extended. Although it will not remain in the anal, she will still be allowed to get acquainted with local young and acclimate Scottish pub.
Once again, the clock is not very nice but everyone is motivated to ensure that everyone can leave on time. First stage of the day, Edinburgh Castle, surely one of the biggest attractions of Scotland with Loch Ness. Along the way, we meet a professional bagpipe player who gives us an unusual version of the Marseillaise. The ascent towards the castle hill we can go to the National Gallery Complex and the Royal Scottish Academy. At the top of the hill, it was unbelievable views over the area south of Edinburgh with the addition of this beautiful blue sky which exposes us all the contours of the city.
then passed to stop the castle, the entrance fee is quite reasonable (11 pounds) in view of the visit and the vast panorama that gives us the castle across the bay. Anecdotally, a passerby with his kilt gives evidence formal than the Scots wear nothing below the belt.
Regarding the visit of the castle, she was very nice since nurtured a good sun. In itself, the castle truly resembles a movie set. It brings together the fabulous jewels in the crown and a national war memorial to commemorate Scottish soldiers dead on the forehead. It also has a well-stocked museum in military uniforms and weapons of war. At the end of the visit, you get to hear all the uproar caused by the guns of war, the "One O'Clock Gun." Taken 5 / 7, it is intended to startle all heads at the same time, and it works, video evidence in support.
It is noon, time to go to sandwiches and cookies. Short tour of the museum of Tartan which is right next door, so as not to forget that Scotland was and is always a major producer of this special wool fabric of many colors, the raw material to manufacture the kilts and National berets. So very interesting visit to this site, which is more for tourists than local people given the amount of items sold unrelated tartan. Our tour continues to the heart downtown with discovery of busy streets and some buildings such as St Giles Cathedral. We borrow the Royal Mile Street emblematic of the city of Edinburgh, both for his past adventures and historical events that took place there.
The group is divided in two, and then I take some of the group on the hill of Carlton Hill, who will leave us unimpressed by the panoramic view that we will be offered. At its peak, one can see the Holyrood Park. Our field of vision is huge, we delight of the surrounding landscapes. Carlton Hill still some national monuments such as Nelson's Monument, which we provides a point of view absolutely magnificent, especially on Princes Street and Gardens, or the Scott Monument of Gothic, to honor the death of a writer. After some photo shoots pretty funny with my fellow travelers, we decided to go to the France-Ireland game in a Scottish pub.
On our arrival, we can already hear the fans roar all Irish, but also endure Welsh came to cheer their team. The end of the match was held under high tension, but the victory is there, and all French people are jumping for joy at the final whistle. The Irish are a little frustrated but they respect the game At our exit, we sing the Marseillaise before returning to the hostel and we fly to Glasgow by road. We do wish all a good-bye to the Scottish capital since it is obvious that we will return in the near future.
