Wicklow Way

Hey, we're back on the road, the program to the Wicklow Way! First question, what is the Wicklow Way?
first reply, this is the longest hiking that can be done in Ireland. It's sagit a walk through the Wicklow Mountains that lie justent south of Dublin, the course is full "in 7 or 8 days" according to most guidebooks, and begins in the southern suburbs of Dublin to finish the village of Bunclody (130 km or ...).
However, time is being counted (the exams are approaching, sad truth), we decided to make the first 20 kilometers by bus, and attack in Enniskerry.
So our itinerary down to Enniskerry - Bunclody (approximately 105 km), all in five days, and camping along the route. To realize the route, that is that it gives the map of Ireland:
We're off on the first day of Enniskerry to the hamlet of Old Bridge (25 km). I am left with a German Tobias (the only one who finally came to the long list people who said they wanted to come but eventually ...). Look at the beautiful sourrire we had (initially!)

Day: Waterfalls Powerscourt (you remember? November)

Day (and the other for that matter): one goal, follow the yellow arrows (after the white rabbit. ..)

First camp in a field, hidden behind trees. Despite, the cold was able to sleep a little ... before being awakened by the rain ...
Second day: Directions, Old Bridge in Glendalough (15 km). That day was not over because the market night, two Poles, Andrzej Danusia and joined us at the above Glendalough. In short, in the morning, two hours walking in heavy rain, fortunately, we had rain jackets. In fact, during its two hours, we made every kilometer of the day, the rain stopped when we reached Glendalough, where we had relaxed a bit:
Second day: of course it is in Ireland.

Second day: arrival in the valley of Glendalough, you certainly recognize the two lakes on the previous pictures (see November).
Second day: Church Trinity Church (1 km from Glendalough), perfect for lunch ...
Second day: Tobias and myself before the remains of the abbey of Glendalough, the blue sky had driven rain.

Second day: On the previous picture, we see the Upper Lake Glendalough view of the mountain (because we went camped a little further down the mountain, just to get a little more privacy).

Third day: After our first (and last) at Camp 4, the third day went very quickly, we've done is to Glendalough Moyne about 30 kilometers, it must be added 7 or 8 miles to turn around the village of Knocknamana (to find a pub).
Before that, let's departure, Tobias can not sleep in the tent because of the cold, decided to return to the village from Dublin. We continued to three. Dana and Andrzej, fresh legs, took the card and went walking really fast, which means that we have come a long distance that day. The only problem is that the evening had a good Andrzej pain in the knee and decided not to take risks. That evening, we therefore choose to shorten the trip, and try to return the following day in Dublin.

Troisièle Updated: Danusia and Andrzej

Third Day: Third and final camp, just in the entrance of the cemetery, at least we has not been hindered by neighbors ...

The fourth and final day, we made a few more kilometers on the Wicklow Way, and then we returned by road (and hitchhiking) village Baltiglass return to Dublin. Conclusion

was not done the last 20 kilometers. In fact, we stopped a few kilometers after Moyne Moyne and marks the end of the original route the Wicklow Way, this is the end of the mountains the last few miles being over a path along the roads in the plains and not more mountains.

That this is in 2 weeks, the exams, I'm going to start (re) aim for my year. So I may no longer give too much news until early June. Ciao tutti
